CHATTING IN HARYANVI!

CHATTING IN HARYANVI!

Actors Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma have been taking a trip up North, literally and linguistically. The two actors have learnt to speak in Haryanvi for Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, their first film together, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj.
The actors seem so influenced by their Haryanvi characters, Matru and Bijlee, that they’ve been exchanging instant voice messages in Haryanvi with each other and their fans on the mobile application WeChat. WeChat, a 100% free mobile voice and text chat application, provides multimedia communication flexibility with text messaging, hold-to-talk voice messaging, video calling, broadcast (one-to-many) messaging, photo/video sharing, location sharing, and contact information exchange.
Imran said, “It’s been fun learning Haryanvi for this movie. Also, it’s great talking about my movie and connecting with my fans directly on this app. I find the voice chat feature on WeChat extremely useful to send messages without having to type.” By following Matru and Bijlee on the app, fans can get Haryanvi translations of words like ‘handsome’, ‘beautiful’, ‘bridegroom’, ‘foreigner’, etc, from Matru’s dictionary.
