Delhi gangrape case on Crime Patrol

Delhi gangrape case on Crime Patrol

Crime Patrol will focus on the Delhi gang rape case in its special episode today. The creative team has naturally handled the case sensitively. Says Subramaniam S Iyer, writer and director of the show, “It’s not just a case that is sensitive, but there’s also a lot of concern around it. People are all aware of this case. We have taken it forward in our episodes and emphasised the need for change. The pressure has to be there from all quarters. Only then will we ever see a change.”
Talking about the popular show, which is in its fourth season, Subramaniam says, “Crime is an exact reflection of what society is. For me, this is not just a crime show, it’s about the issues in society. In fact, we
have taken up issues based on crime.”
Anup Soni, host of the show, says, “It’s beyond me to understand how can anyone fall so low and be so brutal! It amazes and shames me. It was traumatic to just shoot the episode even though I’m not
acting in it. Main toh sirf sutradhar hoon. When I can feel so disturbed, I wonder how that girl’s family and friends are coping with the situation.”
He adds, “We need to review our laws and make them stringent enough that one can’t even think of committing such a heinous crime. The boy and girl were lying on the road in that cold with such grievous injuries and no one stopped to help them! What are we all turning into? I watched the boy’s interview on TV and was shocked to hear what he had to say about the people, the police and even the hospital. So it’s not just the government or the authorities which need to change, we all need to change. We have to become more
sympathetic and humane!”
Watch Crime Patrol tonight and tomorrow at 11 pm on Sony Entertainment Television
