Ready for the new bachelorette party?

Ready for the new bachelorette party?

From group workouts and pole dancing regimes, to having a cooking class, the pre-wedding hen party is different now

All eyes are on the bride on D-Day goes the popular refrain, but going by what the bride-to-be and her pals are up to, all eyes are on her before the wedding, as well. A spa-rty with friends is passé, instead the new ‘hen night out' is radically different, in the most unusual of scenarios. Say hello to the pole-dancing class, aqua aerobic pool, a weekend cooking class and
more — which are playing hosts to the bachelorette bash in Mumbai.
Party gets a health focus One of the biggest swings is towards getting exercise with the gals, that is based on the trend of the group workout. Not only are women taking up day travel with hiking and rafting near Mumbai, but also booking an exercise class in order to celebrate by learn
ing something new.
A city-based dance teacher recalls how she had two pole dancing sessions with a bride-tobe and her gang just a few days before she was to tie the knot. “They brought their own wedding theme music and had a good time learning. It was their treat to her and post the class they danced and had great time,” she says.
    Adds a health instructor from

South Mumbai, “I recently had a girl who was to get married, who signed up to learn belly dancing with six of her friends. It was a three-day class just before her wedding, paid by the bride-to be. On the final day they simply had a blast, even bringing a camera and their own food.”

Painting and cooking One of the reasons for this new partying style could be that women find staying out at night unsafe. One of the trends has been to celebrate at a day-time pottery class where the bride’s friends create specially painted plates etc for her as a present.
Learning to cook in a private class is another way. Says a recently-married bride, “At my hen party last month I had a simple cooking class party. We learnt to make my favourite foods. After that I gave everyone a signed apron thanking them,” she says.
