SHAH RUKH WAS BLOWN BY WHAT HE SAW

Dabboo Ratnani’s calendar for the year 2013 features 24 actors. We picked four shots from the calendar and Dabboo spoke about what went behind the scenes while he shot for these pictures.

AMITABH BACHCHAN
    Mr Bachchan is such a sport that we have to push the envelope each time we shoot for the calendar. Till the last two days, we didn’t have a concept in place for him and we were wondering what would work out. My wife Manisha, suggested we use a luggage trolley as a prop and we arranged everything in a short period of time. He is more than willing to do all it takes for a good shot.
KAJOL
    Kajol is always game for experiments and that is probably the best thing about working with her. She had absolutely no qualms about getting her hair and makeup done on the road. We gave her a nice, flowing gown and used a tempo rickshaw as a prop. She has always been a part of my calendar since it’s inception and it is great fun shooting with her.
SHAH RUKH KHAN
    We shot this picture with Shah Rukh in Wai, while he was shooting for his film recently. While I was location scouting, I saw this beautiful sunset by the lake and set up my shot. He never asks any questions and does what he is told. I had asked him to carry a couple of suits and he wore one and walked into the lake. The water was quite chilly but he made zero fuss. When I showed the shot to him two days back, he was blown away. It is one of our finest shots till date.
BIPASHA BASU
    For Bipasha, we always try to retain her sexy and sensuous image and work within that. This time we were working towards doing something different. Shooting with Bipasha is great fun because I have known her since her modelling days. Also she does not do these racy shoots with every photographer as she doesn’t share the same comfort level that we have with everyone.
