Rekha is a super granny

Rekha is a super granny

It is a dream come true for director Indra Kumar, who managed to get Rekha to play the protagonist in his next film, Super Nani. The film, which also stars Sharman Joshi, Randhir Kapoor, Anupam Kher and Indra Kumar’s daughter Shweta, is about a grandson inspiring his grandmother to do something worthwhile in life.
Says the director, “The first person that came to my mind was Rekhaji. When I narrated the script to her, she agreed immediately. My film is about women empowerment and she has always pro
jected that image. She had no reservations about playing a grandmother because her role is a lot of fun. I’m hoping to learn a thing or two from her. It is great fun working with Sharman as well.” The movie went on the floors on December 12 and will be completed with a two-month schedule in Mumbai.
Says producer Ashok Thakeria, “The film is a family entertainer. It will touch you, heal you and leave you feeling good. It is all about the respect and power of women.”
Super Nani, produced by Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Maruti International, will release mid-2013.
